Malaysia is blessed with bountiful timber species of various strength, characteristics and quality. The rain forest of Malaysia produces the finest wood types which are recognized globally including the likes of jati (teak), nyatoh, belian, meranti, keruing, mahagony and oak.
The wood are then carefully carved in the way to showcase the symbiosis of nature and mankind, and are then transformed using unique design motifs to produce high quality wood carving products in the form of furniture, wall panels, sculptures, bowls and other decorative items for gifts or interior decor purposes.
The unique attraction of Malaysian palaces and old houses lies in the decorated carved frames founds on walls, doors and windows. Either in the form of reliefs or cut-out carvings. Using various knives and chisels, the wood is chiselled, whittled, cut, gouged, scraped and carved before being polished with the 'mempelas' leaf.
